Unifor is right on Lake Huron, one of Canada’s “Great Lakes”. Lake Huron is known for its broad, sandy beaches, and the beach area adjoining the Unifor site does not disappoint in this regard.

This region is traditionally territory of the the Saugeen First Nation, an Ojibway First Nation band located along the Saugeen River and Bruce Peninsula in Ontario. Today the band has just under 2,000 members in the area.

2023 will be our first year at this location. In November 2022 we toured the site, and made a video showing the shared spaces, program rooms, outdoor areas, and accommodation.

Accessibility

The site provides accessibility to people who are mobility impaired / handicapped, including:

  • All meeting rooms and common spaces are a ground-floor level, with smooth and wide access.
  • There are 6 accessible accommodation rooms.
  • To get from one session to another can be a 5-minute walk for someone with average mobility, and the interval between sessions will be 30 minutes.

In sum, if you have a mobility challenge you should be able to participate fully. To be sure, though, please let us know about any particular mobility challenges to help us plan to adapt.
