Unifor Family Education Centre is 200km (125 miles) north of Toronto Pearson International Airport. The best way to travel there is by car. We will also arrange for a bus.
Driving to Mindcamp
Unifor is a three-hour drive from Toronto. The address (for GPS) is 115 Shipley Ave, Port Elgin, ON, although Google Maps recognizes “Unifor Family Education Centre” as a place too.
Bus to/from Mindcamp
We’ve chartered a bus to take folks from Viscount Station (near Toronto Pearson Airport) to Mindcamp and back again.
- Departure: Bus leaves Viscount Station at 1pm Monday August 5 (arrives at Mindcamp around 4pm)
- Return: Bus leaves Mindcamp at 12:00 noon Friday August 9, getting to Viscount Station between 3 and 4pm).
- Cost: $150 (round trip)
* Getting to Viscount Station from downtown Toronto is easy: see this page for details. The Union-Pearson Express costs just $12.35 and gets you to Terminal 1 from Union Station in 35 minutes. From there it’s a few minutes by Terminal Link and that is free.
Uber: The cost of an Uber from YYZ to Mindcamp would be at least $250 one-way.
Car Rental: If you’re teaming up with others and/or planning to tour Ontario before or after, car rental might be a good option. The cost of a car for a week will likely be about $500.

Flying to Mindcamp
FLYING IN: The Mindcamp site is a 3-hour drive from Toronto Pearson Airport (YYZ). If you are flying in, plan to arrive the day before unless your flight arrives before 11:30 at the latest (you could push it to noon if you’re coming from within Canada AND have no luggage).
FLYING OUT: The earliest your flight should leave is 6pm on the last day of Mindcamp. It is probably best to plan to stay the night in Toronto.
YYZ Toronto Pearson International Airport is our main portal to the world. You can rent a car there. We will be renting a bus to Mindcamp with an accessible pick-up point: stay tuned for more information about that in spring 2023.
YTZ Billy Bishop Airport (informally known as “The Island Airport” as it’s on a small island in Lake Ontario near the city centre), is good if you want to spend time downtown. Again you can rent a car there, or simply stay tuned for information on the Mindcamp bus.
DTW Detroit Metropolitan Airport Mindcamp is a 4-hour drive from DTW (as opposed to under 3 hours from YYZ) but it may be a good choice for you for a variety of reasons. There is no bus from there however a Mindcamper who lives nearby has offered to rideshare some folks if they can get into DTW before 9am Monday morning.
