2018 Session Description

Facilitating Impossible People
Strategies to handle difficult personalities

For adults • 90 minutes
Category: Pre-Mindcamp
Tuesday 9:30am • The George, Room B
Time and location subject to change (what isn’t?)

We’ve all led meetings, run group activities, or facilitated problem solving sessions ONLY to be stopped in our tracks by a participant who seems determined to unravel our plan and momentum! What if I told you that they’re just expressing their inner most personality, and in those moments, they are transparent in their “human-ness”? Would that make you feel better? No?

Well, what if I told you that you could “honor” those imperfections while still keeping control, and keeping the group focused and on track? It IS possible to facilitate perfectly impossible imperfect people!

The Skinny: 3 things you will do in this session

  • Learn to analyze, understand, and honor the behaviors of these challenging personalities
  • Learn to apply esteem-protecting prevention and intervention techniques which will alter their problematic behavior
  • Learn to keep calm when faced with these people who can push your buttons
